My name is Merceydes and I am running for the Broward County School Board District 7.
I am an expert in child behavior, specializing in children with developmental disabilities. As a member of this community, I cannot continue to simply be an observer while the Broward County School Board continues to neglect the psychosocial and educational needs of the children. As a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) , licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and an adjunct professor of psychology at one of the largest universities in the nation, I believe that my expertise and experience provide me with a unique perspective for this position, a perspective which I feel the Broward County School Board desperately needs.
I am running for the school board solely to utilize these skills in order to effect a positive change upon the lives of the children of Broward County. This is not about prestige or money to me. In fact, if elected, I pledge to accept only that salary equivalent to the lowest paid teaching position in Broward County, and any remaining funds will be donated in the form of books to our public schools.
